Official Patch History (Verified): Nivalis Nights launched on September 29, 2026 and received six official patches and balancing updates across its first three weeks. Every entry below is transcribed from the official Steam Community Announcement for that build, so the dates, feature names and numbers are the developer's own wording rather than community paraphrase.

Six updates in three weeks highlights ION LANDS' active post-launch support: week one stabilised core performance and physics, week two rebuilt the venue-management economy, and week three delivered full greenhouse automation alongside deep customer hunger and save-file optimizations. Below is what each update actually changed, and which guide on this site covers it in depth.

1. All Six Patches at a Glance

Every patch followed a consistent engineering shape: performance and stability first, followed by reported game systems, balancing, and quality-of-life. The table below is the fast index; each update gets its own section after it.

2. Update #1 (October 1, 2026) — First-Day Stabilisation

This patch shipped roughly 24 hours after launch and was explicitly described as a fast response to the most pressing reports, with larger fixes still in testing. The throughput work landed on characters rather than the renderer.

  • Performance: various improvements to character actions, animations and physics.
  • Progression fix: Business and Barter skill levelling was not working correctly and is fixed here.
  • Comfort: the boat was reworked for better visibility from the cockpit and less cause for nausea — relevant if you have read our motion sickness guide.
  • Quality of life: support for lower mouse sensitivity, a note explaining how to skip travel transitions, and fixed furniture configurations.
  • Bug fixes: a repeat-order loop when ingredients needed restocking, the tutorial "Fill Venue Inventory" objective reading confusingly, camera performance degrading each time a save loaded, and chess castling being possible while the king was in check.
Known issue at the time: hiding the quest log (hold J) could leave the text illegible when it was unhidden. ION LANDS stated the fix was already written but missed this build; reloading the save worked around it.

3. Update #2 (October 2, 2026) — The Rules Get Published

Update #2 matters less for what it changed than for what it documented. For the first time the developer published the exact priority order that governs every automated staff character, which is the backbone of our staff management guide.

  1. 1. Serve a mealHighest
  2. 2. Process ingredientPrep
  3. 3. Make meal at Food Processor or Drink MachineCook line
  4. 4. Take new orderFront counter
  5. 5. Deliver ingredientsManager
  6. 6. Buy ingredientsManager
  7. 7. Manage complaintManager
  8. 8. Cleanup mealBusser
  9. 9. Cleanup trashCleaner
  10. 10. Cleanup storageCleaner

The rest of the patch was economy hygiene and graphics control:

  • Older ingredients are used first. This cuts down the amount of rotten food you generate, but ION LANDS warns it may slightly lower the freshness component of your customer reviews.
  • "Lighting Details" slider added. A light-culling system that limits how many lights can be active at once within your field of view; sliding it left deactivates distant lights.
  • Low texture preset removed. Anyone on Low is automatically upgraded to Medium, and changing texture quality now shows a confirmation and progress popup.
  • Kitchen Buffet was configured as a storage unit holding 100 normal and 50 refrigerated space.
  • Small fixes: the blurry newspaper in Hive Mall, the misleading treasure fishing spot icon, trash-bin placement in Central Canyon, and decorative furniture now correctly counting toward venue storage.
Known issues flagged in this build: fast travelling can hurt performance for some systems until you save and reload at the destination, and staff can get stuck — the developer suspected idle positions and suggested trimming the number of hired staff at a venue.

4. Update #3 (October 5, 2026) — The Manager Overhaul Begins

This is the patch that started to answer the community's loudest complaint. Manager restocking behaviour was rewritten, and the changes are all measurable:

✓ Manager Changes in Update #3

  • The restock amount is now in sync with the red "Restock Ingredients" objective, which appears once an ingredient's stock falls below 10.
  • Time between placing an order and delivery being available now scales with manager level: 10 seconds at low level down to 4 seconds at maximum.
  • Managers gain skill experience for resolving customer complaints, with a bonus for a positive outcome.
  • Restock notifications now appear after delivery rather than when the order is placed.

⚠ Bugs Fixed in Update #3

  • Vending machine and composter item-duplication glitch.
  • Customers not leaving when you take their orders yourself without the required processors.
  • Rotten food not clearing from venue storage when stock existed in both normal and refrigerated storage.
  • A conflict between two treasure fishing spots that blocked a related quest.
  • A character blocking the way to Deeala in Mountain Town, and Sunset Hour venue levelling at Mountain Town.

World and content also moved for the first time: three new greenhouses were added to the Industrial District, Zaffer's neon sign became a placeable decoration, achievement point unlock levels were rebalanced across every district (they were "a tad too easy"), and unreachable hidden Fusebox scannable components were removed from the Metro Hub underground. One quiet scheduling fix is worth knowing: Banor was previously configured to eat on shift, so on legacy saves he may arrive late to work until he settles into the new routine.

5. Update #4 (October 9, 2026) — Venue Management Settings

The largest management patch so far. Before Update #4 you could not tell a manager how much to buy — you could only react. Now each venue has its own controls.

Restocking targetWhat it buys
Lean2 of each required ingredient
Normal5 of each required ingredient — the default
Extra10 of each required ingredient
Recent SalesBased on meals sold in the last 4 in-game hours, minimum 2

Alongside the target you get a daily restocking budget and a per-venue toggle for restocking notifications. The full mechanics are broken down in our venue management settings guide. Other headline changes:

  • Stacked deliveries clean themselves up. Overflow goes to your main inventory, where you can restock manually or sell it.
  • Recipe customisation is now per-venue. Your customised recipes only affect venues you own or rent; the rest of the city keeps cooking, buying and pricing from the original recipes.
  • Reserved ingredients are no longer lost. If a customer left before their meal was ready, the ingredients set aside for that order used to vanish and slowly drain your stock. They now return to storage, and existing saves self-correct.
  • Cleaner happiness now helps. It previously worked backwards, reducing cleaning performance; movement and cleaning speed now correctly increase with level and happiness.
  • Quest Marker Filtering. A new gameplay setting that limits the HUD, compass, map and in-world markers to only the quests you have pinned in your journal.
  • Seven autosaves are now retained, with new autosaves replacing the oldest.
  • New graphics options and memory work: a Crowd Density setting to reduce background characters, plus memory release when travelling to lower the risk of crashes.
  • Navigation and character fixes: no more falling under the map after loading a save, characters no longer walking in circles or appearing inside furniture, and a corrected photo-mode camera start position.

6. Update #5 (October 15, 2026) — Greenhouse Automation & Economic Balancing

Update #5 is one of the largest post-launch expansions yet, responding directly to player requests to transform agriculture from a manual chore into a profitable industrial supply line. Full details are detailed in our greenhouse farming guide.

✓ Agriculture & Logistics Upgrades

  • Automatic Harvester (Level 15): Fully automates crop harvesting into on-site storage.
  • RePlanter 4000 (Level 16): Automatically replants matching seeds after every harvest cycle.
  • Dedicated Greenhouse Storage: Install standard or refrigerated furniture units inside greenhouses. Excess crops spill over before routing to inventory.
  • Remote Management (Tab Menu): Check module status, toggle automation, and assign crops from anywhere in Nivalis.
  • Speed & Fast Travel: Farming animations are 40% faster; fast travel directly to owned greenhouses and venues.

⚠ Venue Economy & Engine Overhaul

  • "Use Greenhouse Stock": Managers pull homegrown produce before ordering commercial wholesale ingredients.
  • Daily Budget Live Tracking: Real-time display of budget currently spent next to daily limit.
  • Venue Owner Ranking Rebalanced: Calculated over last 7 days instead of lifetime; tier, popularity, and income weighted equally.
  • 50% Smaller Save Files: Deletes reviews older than 30 days while preserving all lifetime stats and achievements.
  • Staff Workflow Safeguards: Sal Magundi task handling fixed; staff rendered semi-transparent to prevent player blocking.

Note on existing saves: Farming leveling requirements were adjusted, which may cause your displayed Farming skill level to recalibrate downward slightly, but accelerated 40% animation speeds make regaining levels significantly faster.

7. Small Patch (October 16, 2026) — NPC Hunger Rush & Fixes

Released 24 hours after Update #5, this targeted patch focused on customer simulation behavior and visual polish:

  • 6-Hour NPC Hunger Cycle: A timing bug that restored NPC hunger too slowly was resolved. All citizens now cycle hunger every 6 game hours, producing an intense, predictable early-morning rush of hungry diners.
  • Last Planted Crop Marker: Farming modules now clearly flag the last planted crop in both the module list and radial menu.
  • Pixelated Crop Shader: Upgraded crop textures to match the game's retro-cyberpunk aesthetic.
  • Quest Softlocks Resolved: Fixed progression blockers in Ava's quest involving R.M. Alken and Dr. Matombo, and ensured Dagmar's Sabotage popularity debuff resets properly.

8. What Is Still Open After Update #5 & Balancing Patches

With Update #5 and the October 16 patch in place, the state of known issues has evolved:

✓ Resolved by Recent Patches

  • Greenhouse manual grind replaced by Harvester and RePlanter automation.
  • Runaway manager spending mitigated by daily budget and "Use Greenhouse Stock".
  • Late-game save bloat reduced by 50% through rolling review archival.
  • Customer hunger simulation restored, stabilizing restaurant foot traffic patterns.

⚠ Still Being Watched

  • Long-term foot traffic balance across different high-tier dining venues.
  • Steam Deck performance tuning and official verification status.
  • Console release plans remain unconfirmed while handheld optimizations continue.
